... I think those photos above are probably as close and personal to me as it can ever get. They were basically a combination of lots of random things, putting together by spontaneous impose and pictured with the typical Brooklyn backdrop, like graffiti on a brick wall next to a cute little green door. I was thinking on my way to work how to write a post that can bring out certain profound meanings to them as I saw potential to expand topic of this post beyond the style. But, then, quickly, I came to realize that there were nothing more profound than what they were. It was simply a morning after rain, in which I felt a need to layer in different shades of black. Since the time was limited, the hair was pulled up into a bun as usual and the flat tuxedo shoes were worn for easy walking. I guess the only thing that was a little extra was the fact I put on a little red lipstick and blush, which I do not usually do during the daytime. So, never mind any sorts of meanings or intentions... I love this look and the photos because they simply were the best example of who I am: random, haphazard, contradictory and forever standing outside the door of the norm, though, from time to time, I do get attempted to squeeze one or two peeks into the normality ...

I was wearing the sparking headband from UnoCosa, Polo long sleeve shirt from Juicy Couture, sample tube black dress with white piping and ruffle trim (good thing about getting hands on first sample that never made to production is that you get to be the only one who wear those pieces :-), the high-wasted cropped polyester Kimono pants with cuffs and black tuxedo shoes. To finish the look, I added the white woven wide belt with hook and eye closure from Chinese Laundry. The bag is city tote from Foley + Corinna.

I admire you for your unique style, and that part where you told your struggles with "normality" spoke right to my heart :) My clothing choices end up misunderstood by people, and i really don't know why. It's no rocket science we do here, just little fun, little self expressing, why everyone needs me to conform?
Anyway, thank you for being you. And keep posting! :)

I love to read what you write. I see myself far from normal. I guess cause most college girls are talking about the latest fashions and finding inspiration among darkness. My dressing is not very extreme but I'm really comfortable in darker colors and dresses.

really love this look on you. there's something wonderful about combining pieces you love or feel like layering, not necessarily to make an outfit, but as a reflection of who you are. too many people dress for others rather themselves, which results in a self-conciousness rather than the confidence an outfit should give you. i had to laugh at the oriental nun reference, but i see what you mean :) the tuxedo shoes, headband, shirt, dress and belt all work perfectly together.

Wishing you a lovely weekend!

Thanks for visiting my blog, hun! And wow, you've really got a great style and I do love how your blog and the appearance of the whole package of it stands out from the rest! Totally epic :) Am gonna put you in my bloglist for sure :)

Really like the way how you carefully thought of each and everyone of the photos so that it relates alot to you. The sample tube back dress has got lovely white trimming on it and nice choice of matching it together with the white belt! The weaves somehoe reminds me of a picnic basket! Heh.. do get back to me again, would love to hear from you!

Totally unique styling...I seriously can't get enough of your outfit posts because they are ultra out-of-the-ordinary. Your outfits are always examples of things I would never think to put together!
and yes, those pics do make exam crunch a little "romantic" which was necessary for me. It's nice that looking at pictures can actually calm me down about tests and papers, blogging and looking at beautiful blogger's pictures has been a much needed avenue of stress relief lately. Thanks for adding to the stress relief :)
